QUICK ANSWERS

Quick Answers

Do I need any experience to attend?

Zero experience needed — and no prior meditation knowledge, reading, or preparation. Every session is guided by a trained instructor who walks you through each step in real time. The majority of people who come to us have never meditated before, and many arrive convinced they cannot sit still or quiet their minds. Neither is a disqualification.

Is the first session really free?

Yes — completely free, with no credit card, no sign-up, and no obligation to return. We want you to experience the method before deciding anything. You can walk in during open hours or book online in advance so a guide is ready when you arrive.

How long is a session?

Plan for roughly an hour. The guided meditation itself runs about 30 minutes, followed by time to reflect on what came up and ask your guide any questions. The first session often runs a little longer because your guide introduces the method and answers your questions one-on-one.

Do I need to sit on the floor?

No. You sit comfortably in a chair — no cross-legged floor posture, no cushions, no special equipment. The method works regardless of physical position, so we prioritize what keeps you relaxed and alert for the full hour.

Is this religious or spiritual?

No. The method is a practical technique for clearing stored mental imagery — not a religion, belief system, or faith practice. We welcome practitioners from every tradition — Christians, Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, atheists, agnostics, and everyone in between. The method requires no belief in anything — only willingness to follow the guided steps.

What should I wear?

Whatever you are comfortable sitting in for an hour. No dress code — most members come straight from work, school, or errands. Layered clothing helps since the room temperature is kept moderate for sitting still.

Can I attend online instead of in person?

Yes. Our sessions are hybrid — you can join from home over Zoom instead of coming to the North Park center. Our parent organization also runs 60+ additional guided Zoom sessions per week across time zones through onlinemeditationevents.com, so you have options that fit almost any schedule.

Where do I park?

Free street parking is typically available on Meade Ave and the surrounding North Park side streets. Our address is 4411 30th St, Suite 103. Plan to arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in without rushing.

THE METHOD & PRACTICE

Understanding the Method

What exactly happens during a guided session?

Every session follows three steps: Recall, Reflect, Release. Your guide talks you through each one — what to bring to mind, how to observe it, and how to let it go. You are actively engaged the entire time, never sitting in silence wondering what to do.

How is this different from mindfulness or meditation apps?

Mindfulness trains you to observe your thoughts. This method goes further — it removes the stored mental images generating those thoughts in the first place.

I can't sit still or quiet my mind — can I still do this?

A busy mind is exactly why you belong here. The method uses your active thoughts as raw material — you recall them so you can discard them. Restlessness is not a disqualification.

Is there scientific evidence that this works?

Yes. Peer-reviewed studies on Mind Subtraction Meditation show reductions in cortisol, anxiety, and aggression. Our member surveys report 97.7% experience measurable stress reduction and 93% report significant anxiety relief after three months.

GETTING STARTED

Getting Started

What happens on my first visit?

You meet one-on-one with a guide in a private room. They hear what brought you in, explain the method, and walk you through your first session. Plan for about an hour.

Do I need to book in advance, or can I just show up?

Walk-ins are welcome. Booking ahead ensures a guide is ready the moment you arrive. We are at 4411 30th St, Suite 103 in North Park — free street parking on Meade Ave and surrounding streets.

How often should I come, and what does long-term progression look like?

Most members notice shifts within the first few sessions. Coming 3–5 times per week accelerates progress. The curriculum has structured levels — from daily stress to deep-rooted patterns — and your personal guide tracks your progress throughout.
